People already know of Soulard as a cool and awesome place to be. Maybe it's because of our well-known restaurants and bars, or because we have one of the biggest Mardi Gras celebrations in the world. Perhaps it's our beautiful late-nineteenth-century Victorian and Federal Style brick homes. Or, it could simply be because Soulard is the oldest neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri. But did you realize that Soulard is connected to one of the most famous highways ever known? Soulard is honored to be part of the Mother Road known as Route 66. Born on November 11, 1926, but since decommissioned, the Route 66 Highway became one of the most famous roads in America, running through eight states starting in Chicago, Illinois, and going through through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona before ending in Santa Monica, California. We are lucky enough to say that two blocks of Soulard touch the Will Rogers Highway. The location of the two blocks are on Gravois between Russell and Geyer. Businesses that are lucky enough to be located there are Midwest Petroleum Store 63 on 1314 Gravois Ave, Dog Gone Furbabyz and SuttonWood Interiors & Antiques. Now aren't you glad to know that you can Get Your Kicks on Route 66 right here in Soulard?
